Community Enterprise Operating System is open-source Linux available to free download and easy to install.

Hardware minimal requirement:
CPU: 1
RAM: 1 GB
Hard drive: 20 GB
Check the following installation steps.

  1. Download the ISO
    1. CentOS 7 DVD ISO

2. Create the bootable disk from ISO.
Attach the pen drive to your system and make sure that the pen drive size will be more than 4 GB.
The /dev/sdb is Pendrive
# dd if=/iso/CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1810.iso of=/dev/sdb

3. Attach the Pendrive to your system and make sure your system should boot from Pendrive. Check the BIOS setting of your system and make change Pendrive booting priority.

4. Start the installation process.

In the above image, there are following three options.

  1. Install CentOS 7: This option starts the installation.
  2. Test this media and install CentOS 7: Test the media like bootable Pendrive, CD drive, or ISO is corrupted or not.
  3. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot the system if OS is already installed and has a booting issue in it.

Select the first option to start the installation, or if you want to check the installation media the select second option. The second option takes time to test the installation media entirely and start the installation.

5. Press enter to continue the installation, or it starts the installation automatically after a few seconds.

6. Select the language during installation and click on the button “Continue.”

7. The installation summary window takes time to detect the installation source and default software selection.

8. In the LOCALIZATION option, select the date and time. Select the time zone and time formate 24-hour or AM/PM in it. Click on the button, “Done” on the top left side.

9. Refer the point number 7 image, in the SYSTEM option select the installation destination. In the installation destination window, select a hard drive in “Local Standard Disks.” To automate partition, select the “Automatically configure partition” option in “Other Storage Options.” Click on the button, “Done” on the top left side.
Note: You can skip the points from 10 to 14, If you select the “Automatically configure partition” option in “Other Storage Options.” and directly check the point number 15.

10.(Optional) Refer the point number 9 image, for manual partition select the option “I will configure partitioning.” Click on the button, “Done” on the top left side.

11. Refer point number 10, displays the manual partitioning window.
In manual partitioning, select the “Standard Partition” and click on
button ,”+ ” on the left bottom to create the partition.

12. For example, I create the following partitions.
/boot
/
swap
/home
Note: The “/boot,” “/” and “swap” mandatory partition and create any other partition than /home. Also, make sure that “swap” partition should be double than RAM. To create the partition click on the button, “Add mount point.”

13. Check the following final output window. Click on the button, “Done” on the top left side.

14. Check the partition Summary of changes. If all partitions are correct, then click the button, “Accept Changes.”

15. Refer the point number 7 image, in the SYSTEM, select the network and hostname. In network and hostname window on the right side, click on-off option. It switches on the network card and automatically assign the IP through DHCP server in the network, or assign the IP manually and make sure assigned IP is not already in use in the same network system. On the left side bottom, an option called “Host name.” Enter the hostname and click on Apply button.
Note: You can skip the point 16 if you do not delete configure option.

16. (Optional) Manual assign the IP, OR You can follow point number 8 and click on Done button on the left top corner.
On the right side bottom, click on the configure button.
It opens the network edit setting. In the edit setting menu, select IPv4 Settings.
In IPv4 Settings, there is an option called Method, the select manual from the dropdown. Enter the IP address in the address section and netmask, gateway. Also, enter the additional DNS server. Click on Save button.

17. Now click on the button, “Begin Installation” on the right bottom.

18. In the configuration window, you can set the root password to log in on first boot after installation. In user settings option click on root password.

19. Set the root password here. Enter the root password twice to confirm it.

20. (Optional) Refer the point number 18 image; you can create the user other than the root user. In the user settings option, select user creation and enter user details.
Note: Select the option “Make this user administrator” if you want to assign the administrator permission to the entered user.

21. In the configuration window, the installation process configures the required packages.

22. Click on the button, “Reboot”. It will reboot the system and remove the bootable device manually.

23. After reboot, checks the following Grub menu window. Select the first option or automatically start the system in the first option.

24. First login after installation. Enter the root user and password or create user password during installation.
